The legal framework of Islam pays close attention to the line between the permissible and the prohibited. The textual sources of Islam provide clear directions to seek the permissible and to avoid the prohibited. This turns into a quest for the modern Muslim to source food from credible means. Some types of food have also been ambiguous of their nature, with regards to their permissibility in respect of religion.

Acquiring nutrition and blessings from food, require pure means and methods of food preparation. Islam aims to scrutinize the manners of acquiring and preparing food to ensure the best use of resources and processes, resulting in wholesome goodness of the food that we consume. The religion, without doubt, emphasizes that food has an effect on one’s physical and spiritual health.

Naturally, today’s commercial influence on food has sparked further discussions that lead us to unprecedented questions. The Muslim’s daily quest for food turns into a complex challenge of intellectual gymnastics and spiritual inquest, all for the purpose of clarifying the status of food.

Join us as we hunt for the truth behind food.
