Synopsis
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The time will become short, knowledge will be decreased, civil strife will appear, niggardliness will be case into people’s heart, and ‘harj’ will be prevalent.” He was asked, “Messenger of Allah! What is it?” He replied, “Slaughter, slaughter.” – [Abu Daud]
The rampant spread of ignorance, misinformation and disinformation in this current era is considered the major hinderance in the pursuit of authenticity and truth. This infodemic becomes a greater concern when it infects the realm of spirituality and religiosity.
The death of knowledge and it’s forebears has been prescient within the fold of Islamic scriptures. One of the portents of the Hour, Muslims have been warned of this calamity through revelation and are reminded to protect ourselves and rise above this tribulation.
Sessions aim to identify the reasons for the demise of knowledge, ts manifestations and remedy its symptoms. Participants will we exposed to the various verses of the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ on the disappearance of knowledge. The death of misinformation and ignorance starts with the revival and resurgence of divinely guided knowledge.
‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘As narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Indeed Allah does not take away knowledge by removing it from the people, but He takes away knowledge by taking the scholars, until there remains no scholar and the people begin to ask the ignorant leaders, so they give their verdict without knowledge. They will go astray and lead the people astray.” – [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
