Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I have been sent with concise, comprehensive speech. I have been supported with fear. While I was asleep, I was given the keys to the treasures of the earth, and it was placed on my hand.”
– Sahih Muslim, Kitab Al-Masajid Wa Mawadhi’i As-Salah

Our religion is based upon texts. The two primary sources of the religion are collections of literature. The first command of God to the final messenger of humanity, was to read. And that final messenger, had commanded us to write, so that we can preserve knowledge. God, when He wants to gift His servants goodness, He grants them the comprehensive understanding of His religion. In summary, this religion is based upon sincere education and academic excellence, that leads to righteous actions resulting in the betterment of humanity and its environment.

We know of The Quran’s linguistic excellence, in its choice of words, use of rhetorics, and pedagogical structure and coherence. How about The Sunnah? Does it carry any notable value in its language and style of communication? How does The Prophet ﷺ speak and teach the religion in the most excellent manner? How does The Sunnah compare to The Quran, in terms of its linguistic character? What wisdoms can we derive from The Sunnah’s language?

Zooming our lenses into one of the two textual sources of the religion, we look towards The Sunnah of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Sunnah is usually overlooked as a source of religious advisory, due to its perceived inferiority in comparison to The Quran. Further deliberation into the matter would clarify that The Sunnah, indeed, has a crucial role to play in the holistic and pure understanding of the religion. The language of The Sunnah contributes to the clarity of our understanding about the Prophet ﷺ and his profound Sunnah. His expressions and emotions towards his Companions, and their reactions to his teachings, portray an honest depiction of the life and times of the Prophet ﷺ and his people, during the fundamental stages of the initiation of the religion.

Points of discussion include:

• The Inimitable Texts: The Quran & The Sunnah
• The Forgotten Revelation: The Divine Nature of The Sunnah
• Divine Linguistics: A Textual Analysis of The Quran & The Sunnah
• Concise Comprehension: The Speech of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
• Eloquent Examples: A Narrative Study of The Sunnah of The Prophet ﷺ

This MasterClass, we decipher Prophetic language. The words and expressions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ carry immense emotional value to every lover of the Prophet ﷺ, and those emotions carry wisdoms of faith that cannot get any more human in its nature. The Sunnah speaks to us, so, let’s listen carefully.
