“Indeed, this is My Path. Perfectly straight. So, follow it, and do not follow any other ways, because it will separate you from His Way. This is what He has entrusted you with, so that you will be conscious.”
– [Surah Al-An’am, Ayat 153]

In School of Aqidah’s eighth module, we discuss new-age thought that seeks to offer alternate perspectives of Islam from the lenses of parallel movements that share perceived similarities with the objectives of the religion.

The shenanigans of the “post-truth” era have raised question marks over the role and relevance of religion. As a result, various movements have sought to mould religion into an accommodative feature in the new-age narrative of human progression. These attempts to fit religion into the global canvas have been met with mixed reactions from various voices that speak about religion.

Controversies that surround the religion serve as obstacles for these modern movements. Problematic texts have been blamed for a range of issues, from that of social constructs, specifically human rights and gender roles, to issues of the fundamentals of the religion, not to forget, the sectarian divides that stretch the spectrum of the sacred sensibilities to reach the ends of mind-boggling mysticism and politically motivated extremism.

Join us as we scavenge through the rubble of modern narratives to seek truth in this fuzzy age of “post-truth”.
