SPIRITUAL HEALING:
FIQH OF RUQYAH
Overview
There is not an illness in this world, except for, that there is its cure. We just have to find it. The Sunnah of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is comprehensive and complete with regards to its role as guidance for mankind, in matters of our faith and our responsibilities towards God and His creation. But what about taking care of ourselves? How does our religion contribute to our efforts in pursuing wholesome self-care?
The Prophetic guidelines on matters of health and wellness indicate that seeking remedy for illnesses is an essential responsibility that we need to uphold, in order to keep ourselves functioning efficiently as individuals who contribute to the service of God and humanity. Apart from dietary realignments and natural medication, the religion also addresses spiritual healing, as a form of medicine, for both the physiological self of a human being, and his metaphysical soul.
While there are virtues of spiritual medication that are exemplified through The Sunnah of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the practices of the pious predecessors, the concept of spiritual healing has seen its fair share of mythological misunderstandings and misapplications. These issues should be unpacked and clarified, so that we can truly understand and implement Prophetic spiritual healing. True divine assistance in seeking remedies will not only result in effective cure, but also carry souls closer to faith in God.
Points of discussion include:
• Healthcare in Islam: How Do We Perceive Illnesses & Remedies?
• The Realities of Sihr: Identifying Evil & Eradicating Its Effects
• Introduction To Ruqyah: The Quran As A Cure
• The Practice of Spiritual Healing: How To Do Ruqyah?
• Malevolent Myths: Clarifying Misconceptions Regarding The Unseen
This MasterClass, we recalibrate our perspectives on spiritual healing, relearn The Prophetic Code of Ruqyah, and strive to achieve a comprehensive understanding of religious injunctions on seeking cure.
