THE DIVINE SPEECH:
A LINGUISTIC STUDY OF THE QURAN

Your safety matters.
Due to COVID-19, all of our upcoming Seminary modules are temporarily being conducted online on Google Meet.

Overview

Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge — except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Throne encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is The Most High, The Greatest.

– [Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 255]

The study of language and its rhetorics instigate extensive inquiry into the linguistic facet of The Quran. This study aims to identify defining features which showcase the profound literary nature of the final revelation. Ranging from simple analyses of vocabulary and sentence structures, to unique exclusives of the Arabic language, there are many gateways to understanding Allah’s words, all through the lenses of language.

Apart from minute yet intricate attention to details in presenting knowledge, The Quran is also a paragon in organizing knowledge. Anyone who glances through the content of The Quran could very easily dismiss it as a seemingly organized mess. A thorough study coupled with conscious contemplation, however, will prove otherwise.

Distinctly coherent, The Quran challenges hearts and minds to think beyond barriers, shedding light on the relevance and correlation of knowledge, beyond just its native application and face value.

Join us as we unearth the linguistic masterstrokes of the Quran, and instill greater appreciation for the divine text that shapes our faith.
