Overview

Say [Oh Prophet]: “It has been revealed to me that a group of Jinn listened carefully [to The Quran] and said: “For sure, we have heard a wondrous recitation.”
[Surah Al-Jinn, Ayat 1]

God created creation, and amongst the creation, He created a certain unseen creature, living with us, but in parallel realms. The Quran expounds on such a creation with a little bit of detail, tickling our curious minds to know more about these unseen beings. For one, they share a number of similarities with us, as conscientious beings that live and die, with choices and decisions they make that result in various consequences. They too, know about God, and they too, have heard The Quran.

The very nature of their existence is intriguing to the human mind. Unable to sense and perceive this alternate realm of existence, we form our own conceptions of what these creatures could be. At times, these conceptions are misplaced and developed to form ideas that are totally at odds with the true depictions of the unseen, as described by God Himself, in His Divine Revelation.

Some misconceptions and false perceptions of the being of Jinn, have even crept into us, to infiltrate the authentic belief and practice of the religion, through heretical ideas. The very mystery and awe of the idea of unseen beings, has been used to distort our perceptions of the religion, and subsequently, and unfortunately, misused by some within the Muslim community.

These accounts would not only clarify the misunderstandings we have culturally inherited on the creation of Jinn, but would also shed some much needed light on the significance of their existence as creatures of faith.

The fruits of faith that we all crave to taste in this worldly life is a blessing from God that is not exclusive to human beings. Metaphysical creatures that inhabit parallel realms are also in need of faith. When the light of God pierces through the unseen realms of creation, it resonates within every being, awakening their innate need to know the truth from their Creator. This faith transcends all realms to illuminate His creations with the light of truth.

Let’s explore this parallel realm of unseen creatures, not to unveil its mystery, but to learn from history, to steer away from false sophistry, as we walk towards a future of faithful victory.
