This month is a test of Taqwa. We are trained to think before we consume, and behold, consumption is not merely the idea of eating and drinking. We are consumers of many things in this day and age. We consume digital media content. We consume news and stories. We consume the arts and its likes. We consume, when we purchase items, online and offline. So, how do we attain Taqwa while we continue consuming? How can we be woke while being a consumer?

Allah has blessed us with wealth and provisions to live a life that is conducive for us to be the best that we can be. But, how do we ensure that our consumption practices and habits don’t derail us from our ultimate purpose of being an excellent human being and a servant of God worthy of His Pleasure? How can we manoeuvre our way out of this world of capitalism and consumerism to protect our faith and our actions?

This Ramadhan, Ustaz Taufiq shares with us how Muslim consumer ethics and etiquette can lead us towards a better life, not only financially, but also, spiritually. The provisions of God are there for us to benefit from, but it should not detract us in our pursuit of His Love. Let’s learn how we can be better consumers, to lead a better life, in search of God’s pleasure.
